Sad News

I'm debating on what to do...maybe you have a suggestion. I was informed my designs are being pirated on a few sites. (like http://www.downturk.info/476034-scrap-kit-bible-heroes.html and http://www.gfxtra.com/scraps/56189-scrap-kit-bible-heroes.html.)

They have downloaded my freebie kits and offered them for sale at these sites. I want to continue the Freebie Friday for all of you, but these people have ruined it. Any suggestions?

  1. Report them to the FBI. Another blog I read, JustSoScrappy on Blogspot, just had somebody buy a bunch of her stuff and just change the name on the previews and is reselling as their own stuff. She reported to the FBI and her last post said she thought the FBI had shut down the site. Good Luck, I love freebies but with all the pirates out there I won't be surprized if nobody wants to do them any more. - LianeZ

  2. Do you know if there is a way to report them to some organization who could penalize them?

  4. I thought just making the DLs expire was good, I never seem to catch them on time!
If you have a copyright on your designs then what these people are doing is not just unethical, but illegal. Find the 'contact us' button and demand that your content be removed immediately or legal actions will be pursued.

  5. I think making a password before downloading can help with this. Not sure though. I'm sorry some people don't have any integrity. Stealing someones work and turning around to make a profit is wrong, and we all know it. Hope you continue with your freebies. You are very talented!

  6. bummer. I hate that some people choose to be so dishonest and ruin it for others! I'm not sure what the answer is for you but just want you to know that I love your Freebie Friday! Good luck!

  7. Can you not watermark your items? What about a password during download? It takes an extra step but is worth it in the end.

  11. That's terrible! I hope you have informed them and asked for them to be removed. I'm not sure how to prevent it - I see other designers complaining that this has happened with their free and purchased kits. I think it is important to do what you have done and warn honest scrappers which sites are doing this so we can boycot them. I did visit one lady who showed the kit on offer and then you had to leave a comment and email and she posted you the links - I guess that might cut it down though of course it can't prevent someone passing the kit on and it does make extra work and it does seem less "friendly" somehow. SO sad.
